Mission - Vision - Strategy
Mission (aim)
Enabling deprived children, their families and the community they live in to fulfill their basic needs.
Vision (what)
- A culture is created that offers the people in Laos the best possible chances to deal with challenges and thus developing both the individual and the community in a permanent way.
- People determine their priorities democratically and search effectively for ways to deal with the challenges.
- They have installed a network in which they themselves can obtain technical, financial and organizational support. They make and carry out their own plans. They learn by doing.
- All times They are willing to share their knowledge and experience with other interested communities.
- We intend to make ourselves redundant. The people within the Khong District will eventually be working together in both formal and informal structures.
Strategy: (how)
We will achieve the above by taking a collective initiative for more education, better health care and a basic income for everyone, so that more people will get opportunities to develop themselves.
'collective' stands for four teams that stay in close touch with each other.
1. The Khong Development Committee (KDC) is the heart of our organization. It forms the lifeline between the people in Laos and the Netherlands and finds itself at the basis of all aid given. The members expand their network, regionally as well as nationally, with the authorities and the community. They assist in building up a collective a bottom-up vision.
2. Our experts and coaches in Vientiane support the development of the KDC. They network on a national and international level with organizations within Laos.
3. The local community, that participates in each project with either money, materials or labour. In addition to this, the aim for them is to learn skills that enhance their possibilities to improve their lives.
4. All volunteers in the Netherlands. The foundation in the Netherlands inspires and facilitates people (in Laos and the Netherlands) to enable the people within the Khong District to improve their own lives They network with organizations, both nationally and internationally, who can maybe can support us.
Together we search for levers that can bring change. Within our organisation, we encourage everyone to listen to eachother and to let go of our own convictions in order to understand one another.
The process within each project is just as important as the result. Above all, people learn by their own experience. New challenges are constantly taken up, so that people stay eager to learn. This is how people and communities develop themselves.
Key objects:
- The development of skills by the local community to take their own decisions and to be responsible for improving the conditions of their own lives.
The improvement of general health by building accessible centres and facilities for basic health care.
- Assistance in setting up good education by better buildings, furniture and books as well as by training of teachers.
- Providing the community access to clean drinking water and better public health by building toilets for schools and houses.
- Promoting sustainability by offering possibilities to obtain a basic income in order to become self- supporting.
People within the organization:
iSAFE = we Inspire, Stimulate, Activate, Facilitate and Evaluate initiatives, started by and for people in Laos.
Because we are a small organisation, the results of our efforts will be seen quickly. Together we are learning constantly from the things we do. We ourselves are also growing by helping others!
We together develop ideas
Our plan of action is constantly adapted to new opportunities, situations and understandings. Looking back, discussing and developing new ideas are therefore elementary, for the people in Laos as well as the people in the Netherlands.
Donors
Our work depends on donors and sponsors. Our objective is to inform as many people as we can about our foundation, its methods and its results. By means of our website, newsletters, videos and other material, people can get a clear view of who we are and what we do.
