Why do we work mainly in Laos?

Why do we work mainly in Laos?

Adrie de Koning worked for three years as a volunteer in Laos in 1996. In 2000 he married Thongsian Phongsavath, who was born and raised in the Khong District. They now live together in Nootdorp in The Netherlands. By talking to friends and acquaintances about the living circumstances in the Khong District, the idea was raised to help the local people. The network they provided is still growing and remains a solid base for the activities in the Khong District.

The KDC is the essence of our organisation. They are being supported by experts in the country.

The first application for the KDC was to build a school in the Mango village. With the support of the local people the school was built. And because of the fact that the school is now standing, the government extended the school period from 3 to 5 years.

After that the foundation Friends of the Khong District was set up.

The main goal of the foundation is to inspire, activate and provide a better living for the people of the Khong District.
