Het Khongdistrict

Laos:

Laos is the only country of  South-East Asia that is completely surrounded by other countries. Because there is no coastline, Laos has been an isolated country for a long time. With regard to it’s nature, Laos is one of the most untouched countries. You can enjoy the extended rain forests, the beautiful mountains and the supurb rivers. Moreover Laos has one of the best saved cultures of Indochina and the speed of life is much slower than in the other countries of South-East Asia.

Friendly people:

Laotians are very friendly people and whether you speak English or not, they are always willing to help you, if necessary even by using sign language. Many people who are backpacking in Laos for the first time love the country’s  relaxed way of living. Even the custom authorities on the airport are mostly friendly; waving you goodbye when you leave the country. Those things make traveling in Laos an unforgetable experience.

South Laos, home of the traditional culture:

South Laos has a lot of curiosities in a relative small area. In Si Phan Don, called 'the 4.000 islands', you can discover fascinating geological phenomena; the fantastic landscape with the riversights, waterfalls and the very rare sweetwater dolfins. In the many lovely villages you can also witness the traditional country life and many vestiges of rich colonial times. In the south of Laos you'll see the Bolaven Plateau with very various natural surroundings, spectacular views, waterfalls and domestic people. Champassak, the capital of the province and in earlier days the royal residence, is also a nice place to visit. Nowadays it is a sleeping city at the border of the Mekong. However it is a perfect starting point to see the famous Wat Pu, one of the vestiges of the Kmer history. This is an enormous temple complex at the bottom of a holy mountain. The ruins of  Wat Pu contributes to the mysterious environment of the building.

The Khongdistrict:

In the South you can enjoy the nice waterfalls and hills in the unique region of the Bolaven plateau. In the extreme South the Khong district, is located. This region is also called Si Pan Dhon (4.000 islands). Here you can expierience the hospitality of the local people, you can make boat trips on the Mekong and see the heritage of the French. Moreover you can see the broadest waterfall of South-East Asia and of course you can see our projects.
